How the free trial works

A free account can build with every Growth block and Action on up to 3 Experiences, for as long as it likes. Nothing is charged while you build, and there is no card to enter when you sign up.

The trial, step by step

   Build with everything

   Every block and Action up to Growth is in the picker, marked Included while you build, on up to 3 Experiences. View in AR and Book are Enterprise only. AI build keeps the free plan's monthly allowance.

   Go live

   Your 14-day trial starts the first time either of these happens: a Marker goes live on one of your pages, because you activated it with its PIN or linked it there, or what's live needs a paid plan. That means a second live page, more than three Markers placed, or a Starter or Growth block or Action on a live page. A standalone Action has no draft, so creating one that needs Starter or Growth starts it too. The app tells you before it happens, with a line like Publishing this page starts your 14-day free trial. No card needed now.

   Days 1 to 13: everything is on

   Visitors see every Growth block and Action on your live pages, and Stats and Audience show what Growth shows. In the picker those blocks now read Included in your trial. An email the day it starts sets out the dates and the terms, and your dashboard shows a banner like Free trial: 9 days left with what happens on day 14.

   Day 11: a reminder

   Three days before the trial ends, we email you the plan that will start, its price and why: the blocks, pages or Markers that need it. If your pages need Growth but Starter would do with a few blocks hidden, the email offers that switch in one tap. If there is no card on your account yet, it asks for one.

   Day 14: the plan your live pages need starts

   We start the lowest plan that covers what's live, Starter at $19/month or Growth at $39/month, and it renews monthly until you cancel. Drafts never count. If your live pages fit the free plan, nothing is charged. If they need Enterprise, nothing starts on its own; we get in touch to set it up with you.

What decides the plan

A single live page that only uses free blocks never needs a plan. Publish it with no Marker and no trial starts at all; activate a Marker on it and the trial runs, then ends on day 14 with nothing charged.

Your card

When you order Markers, checkout saves your card for your plan, and asks you to agree to this first:

Stripe stores the card. NearField keeps only its brand and last four digits, so Your plan can show which card is on file. If your page went live without a Marker order, there is no card yet: add one with Add a card on Your plan, or from the reminder email, which asks for one. Nothing is charged without it, and adding a card charges nothing either.

Changing your mind

During the trial

Open Your plan from the banner on your dashboard, or from Account → Your plan. Pick Starter or Growth for day 14, or press Don't start a plan. Starter can't be picked when your live pages or Markers need more than it covers. Cancel before day 14 and nothing is charged.

After day 14

The plan is an ordinary monthly subscription. Change or cancel it with Manage Billing on Account, which opens the Stripe billing portal. See changing or cancelling your plan.

If you don't start a plan

Your pages stay live and your Markers keep working. Nothing is unpublished and nothing is deleted.

• Blocks above the free plan are hidden from visitors. You still see them on your own page, marked Hidden from visitors, with a Restore with Growth (or Starter) button.
• Your dashboard shows Your free trial has ended and how many features are hidden.
• Publishing a second page or placing a fourth Marker needs a plan first, and the publish button reads Choose a plan to publish.
• Choose a plan at any time and everything shows to visitors again.

Who the trial is for

• Every account on the free plan, once. There is one trial per account.
• Paying accounts carry on exactly as before, and so do accounts that came over from 42Kites with a plan.
• A plan bought on the website comes with the same 14 days if your account has not had its trial yet: the plan is on at once and the first charge is on day 14. Buy one while your trial is running, with more than two days left, and it starts the day the trial ends, so buying early never cuts the trial short.
• Plans bought in the iPhone app through the App Store start straight away, and Apple bills and manages them. Starter and Growth come with Apple's own 14-day free trial if your Apple ID hasn't had one (Apple allows one per Apple ID, and the app only mentions it when you qualify). Buying one during your NearField trial replaces that trial with the plan.
• If you signed up in the iPhone app and have no card on file, the app's dashboard shows the days left and a Choose a plan button, and the app sends a notification 3 days before your trial ends and on its last day. Nothing is ever charged without a plan you chose.
