    Invoices, receipts and payment methods

NearField takes two kinds of payment: a subscription for your plan, and one-off payments for Markers. They are billed separately, and the paperwork for each lives in a different place.

    Subscription invoices

    1. 1

      Open Account

The Plan section holds everything to do with your subscription.

    2. 2

      Press Manage Billing

This opens the Stripe billing portal for a plan bought on the website.

    3. 3

      Find Invoice history

Every invoice since you subscribed is listed there and downloads as a PDF. This is also where the next renewal date is shown.

    4. 4

Update the card while you are there

Once a plan has started, the portal is where you change its payment method. NearField never sees your full card number: Stripe stores the card, and NearField keeps only its brand and last four digits.

    Marker orders

Markers are one-off payments, not part of your subscription. A receipt is emailed when the order is placed, and the order itself is visible in two places.

    Account → Order History
Your most recent orders: what was in each one, the date, the total, the status (pending, processing, shipped or delivered) and the tracking number once it ships.
    Your Orders on the web
The full history, reachable from the link on the Account screen. It is a web page rather than an app screen.

Shipping is charged by size of order: one or two Markers ship for $10, and an order of three or more pays nothing for shipping, because its first three are always priced as the Intro 3-Pack. Every Marker after those three is $29.

When you order Markers before you have a plan, checkout also saves the card for your plan and asks you to agree to that first. The trial article quotes exactly what it says.

    Keeping the billing details right

    • The billing email is the one you paid with, which is not always the address you sign in with. Keeping them the same avoids the "no customer found" problem when you open the billing portal.
    • A purchase order or a specific invoice address is something we can handle by hand: email hello@getnearfield.com before you order rather than after.
    • A card about to expire is updated in the Stripe portal. A failed renewal does not delete anything; it suspends the plan's limits until the payment goes through.
    • Promotion codes are entered at checkout, not afterwards. If you have one and have already paid, tell us and we will sort it out.

    Example

Ridgewood Museum of Natural History, two kinds of paperwork

The museum runs Growth annually and orders Markers twice a year. Finance asks for "the NearField invoice" and gets two different answers, which is correct.

The plan invoice comes from the Stripe portal, dated to the renewal. The Marker invoices are the order receipts, one per order, matching the two lines in the Order History list. They are separate because one is a subscription and the other is a shipment.

Can I get one invoice covering both my plan and my Markers?

No, they are separate transactions. If you need them consolidated for a finance system, email us and we will send a statement.

Which card is charged when my trial ends?

The card saved when you ordered Markers, or the one you added on Your plan or from the reminder email. Your plan shows its brand and last four digits, with Update card to change it before day 14.

    Where is my tracking number?

On the order in Account → Order History, once the order ships. A shipping confirmation email goes out at the same moment.

My renewal failed. Have I lost my Experiences?

No. Nothing is deleted or unpublished for a failed payment. Update the card in the billing portal and your limits return.
