Ways to sign in
| Method | Web | iPhone app |
|---|---|---|
| Continue with Google | Yes, except inside Instagram's or Facebook's own browser | Yes |
| Continue with Apple | - | Yes |
| Email and password | Yes | Yes |
| Emailed sign-in link | Yes | Yes |
If you first signed in with Google or Apple and later want a password too, use Forgot password with the same email address: it sets one on the account you already have rather than creating a second.
Resetting a password
- 1
Press Forgot password on the sign-in screen
Enter the email address you use for NearField.
- 2
Open the link in the email
Reset links last a day and work once. An expired link is not a lost account: request another.
- 3
Choose a password
Use at least eight characters. Some screens accept six; eight is the number to aim at, and a passphrase beats a short complicated string.
- 4
You land back in your dashboard
Signed in, with everything where you left it.
Why your account may have started out anonymous
NearField deliberately lets you build before you sign up. Choosing a template creates a temporary account so your work has somewhere to live, and it is a real account: it just has no email address on it yet.
The same is true after an express checkout in the shop. If you bought Markers without signing in, the order lives in that browser until you claim it: the confirmation page offers to do exactly that.
The support PIN
Account holds a six-character support PIN, masked with an eye button to reveal it. Share it with NearField support when you contact us and it verifies you are the account holder. Do not put it in a public message, and treat a request for it as legitimate only when you started the conversation.
What a NearField account holds
- Your details
- Organisation name, website, your name, contact phone, and your sign-in email.
- Your content
- Experiences, blocks, images you uploaded, brand settings, Projects and Marker links.
- Visitor data
- Views and events, and, where visitors have told you, names, email addresses, phone numbers and answers. This is other people's data held in your account, and exporting it makes you responsible for where it goes next.
- Billing
- A reference to your Stripe or Apple subscription. Card numbers are never stored by NearField.
Everything is scoped to your account. There is no way for another NearField customer to see it, and no team feature: an account is a single login with no seats, invites or roles, so anyone who needs access signs in as you.
Deleting the account
- 1
Export anything you want to keep first
Contacts and answers export as CSV from Audience. After deletion there is nothing to recover.
- 2
Open Account and scroll to the danger zone
Delete account sits below cancelling.
- 3
Type DELETE to confirm
The word is required in full, because the button is irreversible.
- 4
It removes everything
Your profile, Experiences, brand settings and audience data go, any active subscription is cancelled, and you are signed out. Markers you own stop pointing at anything.
Someone in my organisation needs access. What are my options?
Today, sharing the sign-in details is the only option: there are no seats or invites. Use an address the organisation controls rather than a personal one, so access outlives any one person.
Can a visitor ask me to delete their data?
Yes, and you can act on it yourself. Find them in Audience, open their drawer and use Forget this visitor, which permanently removes their profile and history.
Does NearField see my visitors' contact details?
They are stored to run your account and are visible to you. NearField does not sell them and does not market to your visitors.
I cannot get into an account built before I signed up.
If it was never given an email address it lives only in that browser. Try the same browser first; if it has been cleared, email hello@getnearfield.com with anything you remember about it and we will look.
