What express checkout does
Pressing Buy now on a design page does not ask you to sign up. Behind the scenes NearField creates a lightweight account to hold the order, hands you to Stripe to pay, and brings you back to a confirmation page. Nothing about the order is different from one placed by a signed-in customer.
- 1
Pick a design and adjust it.
Everything on the design page is available signed out, including the compact studio.
- 2
Choose the Intro 3-Pack or single Markers.
With a quantity if you are buying singles.
- 3
Optionally say where it should point.
Expand Where should it point?, paste a link and name it. We create a published Experience that forwards there and attach it to the order.
- 4
Pay at Stripe.
Card and address are collected there. Checkout is US-only and promotion codes are accepted. Stripe also asks you to tick a box agreeing that the card is saved for a NearField plan; no plan is charged at checkout.
- 5
Land on the confirmation page.
It shows your order reference and a timeline: order received, Markers assigned, shipped, delivered.
Claiming the account afterwards
After payment you are offered a Keep access to your Markers card. Taking it turns the lightweight account into a real one: set a password, and everything the order created is already inside it. This is worth thirty seconds: without a password, getting back in means an email round trip every time.
Getting back to an order later
If you closed the tab without claiming the account, go to Your Orders. Signed out, that page shows an email lookup: type the address you paid with and we email a sign-in link. The link works once and runs out after about an hour.
If you already have an account
Buy from the Shop inside your dashboard instead. Checkout reuses the card and address already on your account, so a reorder is a couple of clicks, and the Markers land on the account you are already using rather than on a second one you will later have to merge.
Example
How a Bellhaven order actually happened
The Bellhaven's front desk manager bought a three-pack on a Tuesday evening with no account, paying from the hotel's shared inbox address. The Markers arrived on Thursday. On Friday she opened Your Orders, entered that address, got the sign-in link, set a password, and registered all three PINs in the account she had unknowingly had since Tuesday.
Are my Markers really mine if I never sign up?
Yes. The order and the Markers belong to the account created at checkout. Claiming it with a password just makes that account convenient to open.
What if I pay with one email and sign up with another?
You will end up with two accounts and the Markers on the one you paid from. Use the lookup on Your Orders to get into that one, then email hello@getnearfield.com if you need them moved.
Can I still register the PINs without an account?
Registering a PIN needs a signed-in session, which the sign-in link gives you. In practice: follow the link, then set a password so you are not doing it again next month.
What happens if I cancel at Stripe?
You come back to the page you left, with the cart intact and nothing charged.
