Troubleshooting

    I cannot sign in

Most sign-in problems are one of three: the password needs resetting, the email was never verified, or the work you are looking for was built in a browser session that was never attached to an account.

Start with Forgot password on the sign-in screen. It sends a link to the address you type, and the link takes you straight to a page where you set a new one. If no email arrives within a few minutes, check spam and confirm you typed the address you actually signed up with.

    The ways in

    MethodWebiOS app
    Email and passwordYesYes
Continue with GoogleYes, except inside Instagram's or Facebook's own browserYes
    Continue with AppleNoYes
Emailed sign-in link with no passwordYesYes
Apple sign-in is offered in the app only. If you created your account that way on an iPhone, use Google, the emailed link, or set a password before trying to sign in on a computer.

No password? Email me a sign-in link sits under the password field. It sends a link that signs you straight in and works once, for an account that already exists. If you opened NearField from a link inside Instagram or Facebook, their built-in browser does not show Continue with Google, because Google refuses to sign anyone in there. Use the emailed link instead, or open the page in Safari or Chrome.

    Messages you might be seeing

    Email not verified
Your account exists but the confirmation link was never opened. Press Resend verification email on the same screen and open the new one.
An account with this email already exists
You signed up with a password and are now trying Google, or the reverse. Sign in the original way, then link the other method from your account settings.
Your Google account email isn't verified yet
Google itself has not verified that address. Verify it with Google and try again.
    This link has expired
Confirmation links last a day and each one works once. Your work is still saved. Use Forgot password on the sign-in screen to get a fresh link.

The Experience you built before signing up

NearField lets you build before you have an account. That work lives in the browser you built it in, and it belongs to an account only once you attach an email or press one of the sign-in buttons in the Save your work panel.

    1. 1

Go back to the same browser on the same device

Not a different phone, and not a private window. Unattached work does not travel.

    2. 2

Look for the ochre banner reading 'Your work isn't saved yet'

It stays until an email is genuinely linked. Press Save now.

    3. 3

Attach an email or press Google

Type your email and we send a code. Enter it in the same panel and the account is yours, with everything you built in it. You can set a password straight afterwards.

    4. 4

If you already entered the code

The Experience is not lost: it is attached to your account. Sign in normally, with the emailed sign-in link if you never set a password.

If you bought Markers without an account

Express checkout does not require signing up, so an order can exist before an account does. Open Your Orders (it works signed out on purpose) and use Keep access to your Markers to set a password against the email the order was placed with.

    Passwords

    • Use at least eight characters when you first set one.
    • There is no two-factor authentication on a NearField account today.
    • On an iPhone or iPad, the app can be locked behind Face ID or Touch ID once you are signed in. That is a device lock, not a second sign-in factor.

    If none of that worked

Get in touch from the email address on the account if you can: it is the fastest way for us to confirm who you are. If you cannot reach that inbox any more, say so and tell us your organisation name and roughly when you signed up.

Can two people share one account?

Everything sits under one login today. There are no seats, invites or roles, so a shared password is currently the only way for a second person to get in.

I changed my email with Stripe and now Manage Billing fails.

Manage Billing finds your subscription through the Stripe customer saved on your account first, and only falls back to matching the email. If it still says no customer was found, tell us both addresses and we will reconnect them.

Do my Experiences stop working if I cannot sign in?

No. Published Experiences and the Markers pointing at them keep working regardless of whether anyone is signed in to the account.

Locked out and the reset email is not arriving? Tell us the address you signed up with.
