NFC for car dealerships: vehicle Markers, test drive booking, and after-hours conversions
A shopper stops at a vehicle in your lot on a Sunday evening, when your floor is closed. They want the full specs, the current lease rate, and a way to book a test drive. A window sticker gives them two of the three. A NearField Marker gives them all of it, and books the appointment before they leave the lot.

The dealership's information problem
Car buyers are among the most research-intensive shoppers in any retail category. By the time they walk onto your lot, many have already spent hours comparing trims, reading reviews, and calculating payments. What they need when they're standing next to the car is confirmation: the exact specs on this specific unit, the current deal, and a concrete next step.
The window sticker covers the basics but not the current incentives. The Monroney label covers regulatory disclosures but not the features story. The salesperson covers everything but isn't always available. And outside of business hours, none of these work at all.
A NearField Marker on each vehicle provides the full information layer at all times: during showroom hours when the salesperson is with another customer, and after hours when the lot is empty. The Experience covers specs, features, current MSRP, active lease or incentive deals, and a direct test drive booking link. The salesperson steps into a conversation that's already informed.

Showroom floor placement
The highest-value showroom placement is on or in the window of each featured vehicle: a window mount or a dash card holder with the Marker embedded. Customers who walk in and head straight for the vehicle they found online can tap before a salesperson intercepts them. They arrive at the conversation already knowing what they want to confirm rather than starting from scratch.
For electric vehicles and hybrids, the Marker is particularly effective at managing the range anxiety conversation. A well-built Experience can address common range objections proactively (charging infrastructure, real-world range under different conditions, the dealership's home charger installation partnership) before the salesperson has to field those questions in a live conversation that can spiral into doubt.
The features accordion is the most-tapped section of a vehicle Marker Experience. Buyers who can expand and read through each feature category (technology package, safety systems, convenience features, cargo specs) at their own pace arrive at the test drive appointment having already self-qualified on the features that matter to them. The test drive focuses on the emotional confirmation, not the information transfer.
After-hours lot browsing
Car dealership lots are browsed heavily outside of business hours. Buyers who work during the week walk lots on Sunday evenings. Buyers doing comparative research drive by multiple lots in a single afternoon, after closing. These are motivated shoppers who can't easily convert in the moment, because there's no one to talk to.
A Marker in the window of each vehicle captures this traffic. The Experience includes everything the shopper needs: specs, current deal, comparison with similar trim levels, and the test drive booking link. A shopper who spends fifteen minutes on the lot Sunday evening tapping three vehicles and then books a test drive for Tuesday morning is a highly qualified appointment: they've already done the research and made a tentative decision before they walk in.
The tap timestamp is also operationally useful. After-hours tap data tells you which vehicles are getting the most after-hours interest, which is often different from what sells best during the day. If a specific trim level is getting high tap volume on weekend evenings, that's inventory intelligence worth acting on.

Build a vehicle Experience freeUpdating incentives when the deal changes
Manufacturer incentives change monthly. Lease rates move with interest rates and residuals. A printed window sticker or placard shows the price at print time, which may be out of date within weeks. A NearField Experience shows whatever you last updated, which takes two minutes in your dashboard.
When a new incentive drops mid-month, update the Experience for every affected vehicle at once if the Experience is shared, or update each individually if trim-level differences matter. Every Marker on the lot immediately shows the new offer. No reprinting, no flyer redistribution, no staff briefing to convey the change to every salesperson.
When a vehicle sells and a replacement unit arrives, relink the Marker to a new Experience for the new VIN. Same hardware, new car. The Marker that was on the sold RAV4 goes on the incoming replacement unit with a five-minute content update and a one-minute relinking step. Over a year, the hardware investment in Markers is recovered many times over in the elimination of printed materials.
Vehicle delivery and service follow-up
A NearField Marker in the delivery packet serves the post-sale relationship. The Marker links to the owner's manual and quick-start guides for the specific trim level, the service scheduling link, the dealership's parts and accessories catalog, and the salesperson's direct contact for post-delivery questions.
New owners who have questions in the first week, which is when most post-delivery questions arise, tap the Marker in the delivery packet rather than searching for a phone number or navigating the manufacturer's website. The salesperson who delivered the car stays in the relationship loop without having to follow up manually.
The service scheduling link is the highest long-term value element in the delivery Marker. A customer who books the first service appointment from the delivery packet, rather than hunting for the service number six months later when the oil light comes on, is already on your calendar before a generic follow-up would have reached them.
